Endow Your Annual Gift

Endow Your Annual Gift

The Webb Heritage Society was established in 1991, to recognize the generosity and foresight of those who have taken steps to remember Webb Institute in their estate plans. Since then, the Heritage Society has grown to155 total members; seventy-four members are deceased, and of our 1,021 living alumni, 77 are members of the Heritage Society and have made provisions to benefit Webb Institute. Five of our living Heritage Society members are not graduates of Webb.

Everybody seems to understand "A Week for Webb," the Annual Giving at Webb-related phrase so often used at the Class Agent Leadership Forum last fall. This term really resonates; it is readily understood by anyone considering an annual gift to Webb. "A Week for Webb" originated in the 1920s, when $25 per week was a typical wage for a Webb graduate. Today's weekly wage is much higher, but the concept is still right on target, and provides useful guidance for today's annual giving.

For those alumni and friends of Webb who choose to join the Heritage Society, "Endow Your Annual Gift" is a short phrase that is being suggested as a guide to giving. For example, if you have been giving $1,000 to the annual campaign, it would take a $20,000 bequest earning 5% to replace your regular annual support.

Everyone's financial situation is different, but hopefully "Endow Your Annual Gift" will provide some helpful guidance. Over time, the acceptance of this challenge could go a long way toward supporting Webb's long-term financial challenges.
